Royal Berkshire Fire and Rescue Service fight two Upper Bucklebury fires
Fire fighters have extinguished two separate fires about a mile apart in Upper Bucklebury this evening.
The first, a fire in a field next to the Cottage Inn pub, destroyed fences and garden furniture of two different residential properties.
The second was a field fire off Cox’s Lane.
A Newbury firefighter who was present at the scene of the first fire said: "Luckily the fire was stopped before it affected the houses.
"This is a case of people being aware that what they do can have serious consequences."
The cause of the fires is currently unknown.
Six fire engines were initially called to the first fire, with it being quickly scaled down as the fire was under control.
After smoke was spotted from the Cox’s Lane fire, some fire engines from the first site were despatched to deal with the second incident.
No injuries have been reported at this time.
