Video report: Bucklebury enjoys Tea in the Park
Crowds cheers and toast happy couple at Bucklebury Farm Park bash
A JOYOUS carnival atmosphere enveloped Bucklebury farm Park today as 2,500 people descended on the grounds to revel on the Tea in the Park royal wedding party.
Billed as a 'residents only' bash to which everyone in Bucklebury was invited, the event, which has taken months to prepare, put the village on the worlds stage as it was beamed to a global audience.
Live bands entertained, beer tents watered, and hog roasts and barbecues fed the crowds at the event, which started at 1pm, and is set to run through until 6.30pm.
A large screen TV enabled those present to watch the newly-wed Princess Catherine and Prince William kiss on the balcony at Buckingham Palace, and a loud cheer went up around the grounds with flags waved in delight.
"It's been brilliant," said Lizze Sheard, from Bucklebury.
"It's extra special to know she comes from around here, it makes us feel closer to her, like there's a sense of ownership.
"The atmosphere here is wonderful and it's great to be on the champagne."
One of the party organisers from the Bucklebury Events Committee, the chairwoman of Bucklebury Parish Council, Wynne Frankum said she couldn't believe the day had finally arrived.
"It's astounding that we are actually in the day now, it has felt such a long time coming and I almost can't believe it's here and actually happening.
“It's been fantastic to see friends you haven't seen for ages and everyone is having a good time."
Of the wedding itself, she said: "It was simply perfect. Kate looked lovely."
At 2pm a toast was held, where everyone in the park raised a glass to the happy couple and gave a loud cheer.
