Video report: Newbury celebrates the diamond jubilee, despite the rain

Victoria Park, Newbury, has been a hive of activity this afternoon, with dance, pedalos, food from around the world, and Gifford Circus.
Unfortunately the weather as halted performances by West Berkshire bands on the park’s bandstand, with skating demonstrations at the skate park also cancelled due to the wet weather.
Despite the rain, Mayor of Newbury Arthur Johnson, who unveiled model Melinda Messenger as his mystery guest at the event, was pleased with the celebrations so far.
“It’s been a fantastic day. Everybody has come out despite the weather.
“I loved the dancing by Kala The Arts and we’ve got more entertainment, including karate and belly dancing,” he added.
Elsewhere in the town there were street parties in Russell Road, Gloucester Road, Clifton Road, and Salcombe Road.
