Video report: Thatcham remembers

Townspeople gathered at the war memorial this morning (Friday) to mark Armistice Day with a Service of Remembrance

PEOPLE gathered at the war memorial in Thatcham this morning (Friday) to remember fallen soldiers.

The service, which was held by the Royal British Legion, included prayers, wreath laying and a two minute silence in remembrance of the First and Second World Wars.

Pastor at Thatcham Baptist Church, David Taylor, said: “We meet in the presence of God and we remember with gratitude and commend to God all those who have given their lives in the cause and justice of freedom.”

Chairman of the Thatcham Royal British Legion, Ian Boreland, thanked everyone for attending the special service and added: “It will never happen again in my time – the eleventh of the eleventh of the eleventh.”
