VIDEO: Zombies invade West Berkshire village!
Game of Thrones actor stars in short film shot in Mortimer
THE Zombie apocalypse has come to Mortimer.
A short film shot in Mortimer depicting a zombie invasion in the West Berkshire village has aired on Channel 4’s Random Acts website.
‘I Dream of Zombies’ was shot in Longmoor Lane and stars Game of Thrones actor Josef Altin.
The three-minute zomcom, produced by local filmmaker Jack Pollington, tells the story of a young man obsessed with zombies who one day awakes to find a horde of the undead right in his front garden.
Funded by Channel 4 the film was created by the award-winning film collective Fancy a Jam Pictures, and twenty-two-year-old Jack, from Ufton Nervet, explained why Mortimer was the perfect location for the setting of a zombie apocalypse.
“We wanted somewhere suburban and almost 'fairytale-esque',” said the former Willink School student.
“Where there is a contrast between his humdrum life of wanting the apocalypse to come and the action when he sees the zombies.
“The people there were brilliant, obviously we let them all know before hand that there would be a load of zombies in their street, and they all came out and took photos.”
Jack also explained how ‘Pyp’ from Game of Thrones ended up in the movie.
He said: “We were sat around thinking of actors we could use from British TV.
“We wanted someone recognisable, who looks quite serious but can also handle the comedy element of it too.
“We contacted Josef’s agent and arranged a meeting with him in a pub to explain our ideas and he was really up for it.”
While filming itself took three days, the project took a total of six months and a crew of 30 people to complete.
