Village carol service to be shown on national television

The carol service from Bradfield will be aired on Christmas Eve, following on from April’s royal wedding

MEMBERS of three West Berkshire villages will be back in the media spotlight after being filmed at a Christmas carol service which will be aired nationally on Christmas Eve.

ITV filmed the carol service earlier in December at The Black Barn, Rushall Farm in Bradfield and members of the three parishes, Bucklebury, Bradfield and Stanford Dingley were invited to take part.

They were joined by choirs from Bradfield College and Bucklebury and Bradfield primary schools.

Several local people including the headteacher at Bradfield Primary School were also interviewed on the day.

The Rev. Julian Gadsby, who leads the team ministry and who had to do a short address as part of the filming, said that one of the reasons why he believed the area had been chosen was because of the royal wedding in April.

He said that it would be somewhere that people would recognise and that people would see what a lovely community it was.

He said: “It was really fun to be a part of it.

“We felt it was a lovely opportunity to say something really positive about Christmas and the Christian faith.”

He added: “The local community are very excited about seeing it but most of them will have to record it because they will be in a Christmas church service at the time.”

The service will be shown from 11.15pm until 12.15am.
