Chaddleworth holds bustling weekend of events, from D-Day commemorations to its Village Fete
Village residents recently celebrated of their biggest events of the year.
Despite a few morning showers, visitors at Chaddleworth’s annual village fete enjoyed a fantastic afternoon of fun and games at the Village Hall on June 8.
The BBQ and bar proved popular throughout the day, alongside the dog show, brass band and magic comedy show.
And organisers, Chaddleworth Entertainments, have pledged to donate 50 per cent of this year’s profits to Armed Forces charity, Help for Heroes.
“We are incredibly lucky in Chaddleworth to have so many things going on that help to bring the village together, the fete being one of the biggest,” said chairman, Letitia Slade.
On the Friday evening, Chaddleworth Cricket Club hosted a ‘Chaddleworth Cricket Club vs The Village’ T20 game, which was brilliant fun.
And before then, the village held a commemorative ceremony to mark the anniversary of D-Day on Thursday, June 6.
A procession passed through the village to the site where a beacon was lit.
Residents gathered for picnics and viewed entertainment by the Garston Gallopers and a swing band in front of the beacon, which was lit at 9.15pm.
RAF Welford also put on a display including a selection of fascinating historical photos and stories.
