Crowds enjoyed their annual village fete — despite the inclement weather.

Brightwalton Village Fete was held at the Village Hall on Sunday, May 5 from 1pm till 4pm.

The event featured bluebell tractor rides, family football, a dog show, a bottle stall, hand-made jewellery, a raffle, Maypole Dancing, woodturning, a human fruit machine and, of course, the mighty tug of war.

Further entertainment was supplied by the Wantage Silver Band and Peasemore Ukelele Group.

“We continued to get a great turn out,” said Brightwalton community coordinator, Katherine Moore.

“The fete brings out the best of our beautiful village and once again, it was a great day.

“The champagne moment this year must go to the dog show team who, undeterred when the music didn't work for the dog musical sit competition, persuaded the ice cream man to use the van music instead.”

Teas, cakes, jams and a mobile bar were also supplied throughout the day.
