Bucklebury woman receives British Empire Medal
A Bucklebury resident has now received her British Empire Medal after being named in the King's New Year Honours List.
The King recognised Erica Tipton, 81, for her years of exemplary charitable service in West Berkshire's rural communities.
James Puxley, Lord Lieutenant of Berkshire, presented Mrs Tipton with her medal at South Hill Park in Bracknell on Tuesday afternoon (March 7).
"I am very proud to receive this prestigious award," she said.
Mrs Tipton, who has lived in Bucklebury since 1974, has championed worthy community causes for decades, whether as a parish councillor for 20 years, chair of the West Berkshire Patient Panel for 14 years and as chair of Macmillan Cancer Support, Newbury.
