Theale Village Fete returns to Recreation Ground for another successful year
Theale Fete returned for another successful summer event last weekend.
Opened by MP for Reading West, Alok Sharma, hundreds attended the fete at Theale Recreation Ground on Sunday, June 25, from 12pm onwards.
Some of the day’s entertainment included a bouncy castle, fairground rides, arena displays, the Theale Primary Steel Pan Band, Theale Primary Dancers and a dog show, featuring awards for ‘Handsomest Boy’, ‘Prettiest Girl’, ‘Best Rescue Dog’, ‘Best Trick’ and ‘Waggiest Tail’, sponsored by Ruff n Rumble Dog Walking.
Theale Social Club was also open for visitors to grab refreshments and enjoy music from local bands in the ‘Beer Garden’ Marquee.
Various other stalls and food and drink vendors lined up along the perimeter.
Speaking on the day, Theale Parish Council vice chair, Zoe Fenwick, said: “It's really good to see all the community come out and show their support.
“The community said to us they wanted more community events, so that's exactly the aim of this day.”
Ms Fenwick added: “It really is intended to be an event for the whole community.
“It's a really funpacked day for everyone in the community to get involved with.”
It takes a year to plan for the event, and preparations for next year’s edition will begin shortly.
