It's Great Shefford Duck Derby
DUCKS away!
Great Shefford hosted the village's 30th, annual Duck Derby on Saturday, April 16.
The event, which attracts visitors from surrounding villages, took place at East Shefford Farm at 3pm, followed by tea and cake in the village hall.
One of the organisers, Denise Herrington, said this year's race raised just over £1,900.
The cash will go towards maintenance and preservation of the 900-year-old St Mary's Church and also the Church of St Stephen.
The £200 first prize went to Laura McInnis.
Mrs Herrington said in a statement afterwards: "Huge thanks to everyone who helped to put on and supported [today’s] village Duck Derby.
"We had a team of people to sell tickets, stand in the river, sort the ducks, prepare the village hall teas and clear it all away.
"We were blessed with wonderful weather and a fabulous village community to watch the event."
