Four-legged friends can compete in a dog show taking place in West Berkshire this weekend
Tails will be wagging and treats will be chomped this weekend as a bi-monthly market adds a dog show to its mix.
The Woolton Hill and Highclere Village Market is a fundraising event that features more than 50 stalls offering range of independent stalls offering produce, plants, homewares and gifts.
On Saturday, it will raise funds for Guide Dogs for the Blind, with four-legged friends playing a key role.
Classes will be judged by a team from Kingsclere Vets, with rosettes and prizes for the winners, and treats for all canine entrants.
Categories include the cutest puppy, the best golden oldie, the waggiest tail and the best trick.
The show ends with a special round for children aged 12 or under, in a bid to find the best junior handler.
A team from the Guide Dogs' West Berkshire group will run a tearoom, offering hot drinks and cakes while the heats take place.
Entries can be made in advance by emailing contact details including the dog's name and the categories to whvmarket@gmail.com
They can also be made up to 15 minutes before each class starts on the day.
There is no charge to take part, and the dog show will be held on the field behind the sports hall of Thorngrove School in Highclere, with the market inside.
Each event also raises fund for the group's charity of the year, Speakability, which helps people recovering from a stroke or brain injury.
The charity has a stall so people wanting to make additional donations or find out more about its work can do so.
Samantha Atkins, who helps organise the markets, said: “Whether you’re on four legs or two, there’s something for everyone.”
Full details of the event can be found at www.whvm.co, and it is also on Facebook and Instagram.
The event runs from 10am to 1pm. The June event raised £400 for Swings & Smiles.
