According to the AA, two Rosettes are awarded for "higher standards, better consistency, greater precision apparent in cooking and obvious attention to the selection of quality ingredients."

Owner of The Great Shefford, Joshua Khan (pictured, second left with his team), said: "Our aim at The Great Shefford is simple – to provide the very best food and service to our customers.

"We are a small restaurant with big ambitions.

"This latest recognition of the quality of our fine dining experience is a tribute to the culinary skills of head chef Sam Cary and the rest of our wonderful team."

He added: "Without their hard work and dedication to our vision, none of this would be possible."

Mr Cary said: "It’s a real honour to get the two rosettes.

"We're really passionate about what we do and to be recognised with such a prestigious accolade is a fantastic feeling."

The Great Shefford, which overlooks the River Lambourn, is managed by the team behind King Charles Tavern in Newbury.
