Village school receives Scout Flag from Queen's Guide

A village school has received its Scout pack from the Queen's guide.

At a special assembly held at the end of last term, Queen's guide, Alison Willis presented Welford and Wickham Primary School with their own Scout Flag, Pole and Flag Carrier for use at their weekly meetings and larger events.

The Kite Primary Federation, of which Welford and Wickham School and Stockcross Primary School are members, are the only primary schools in West Berkshire to have their own Scout pack, say Welford and Wickham staff.

This honour provides children from Reception to Year 6 with scouting activities every Friday afternoon.

Mrs Willis has been involved in guiding since she was a child, becoming a Queen’s Guide in her youth. Her granddaughter attends Welford and Wickham School, and Mrs Willis says she is thrilled that the school is offering such an amazing initiative.

Welford and Wickham's scout group only formed recently, and would be grateful from any donations to help provide activities and events for its children. Volunteering vacancies are also available at the school on Friday afternoons from 1.15-3.15pm.

Please contact office@welfor.w-berks.sch.uk if interested in volunteering with the scouting school.
