Great Shefford celebrates Easter Sunday with Duck Derby

At 3pm on Easter Saturday, the annual Great Shefford Duck Derby took place at East Shefford House by kind permission of Mr and Mrs Povey.

A good feather forecast meant large crowds could watch on in glorious sunshine as 1,000 plastic ducks were tipped into the River Lambourn.

Each duck quickly swam its way to the finish line. The five lucky winners provided prizes of £200, £100, £50, £30 and £20, which were announced during a double bill of Easter tea and cakes in the village hall.

Organiser Denise Herrington said she was thrilled that all 1,000 duck tickets had been sold, raising more than £1,800 for the parish churches of St Mary's and St Steven's.

Villagers also enjoyed a wonderful Easter afternoon in the idyllic riverside setting.
