Bucklebury residents get creative with Coronation scarecrow competition
Residents of Bucklebury marked the Coronation of King Charles III in fine fashion at the weekend with their first-ever Scarecrow Festival.
And they hope it will become the first of many.
The royally-themed competition started on April 29 and saw 33 scarecrows in total pop up around the village, each carefully designed and assembled by residents.
Four judges inspected the scarecrows and announced the winners at a small celebration and prize giveaway at The Cottage Inn, Upper Bucklebury on Saturday, May 6, which was well attended despite the poor weather.
Each winner received a Coronation mug and rosette. The three winning designs from first to third place were: a soldier in a sentry box in Broad Lane by Anna and David Brooks, a Paddington Bear in Turners Green by PJ and Helen Kidd and a Scottish King in Berry's Road by Pam and Lynsey McNish.
