Villagers urged to attend Kingsclere Local Plan exhibition
Basingstoke and Deane Borough Council will host the exhibition about the Local Plan for the borough up to 2029, with 50 new homes planned for Kingsclere in this period.
The majority of the other homes are planned for sites around Basingstoke, but also in Bramley, Oakley, Overton and Whitchurch.
The plan allows for 748 new homes a year to be built up to 2029.
Kingsclere parish councillor, Sue Adams, said sites in Kingsclere for the new homes would be decided in tangent with a neighbourhood plan for the village, reflecting villagers’ opinions on the future development of Kingsclere.
Ms Adams, the chairwoman of the parish council’s Neighbourhood Planning Group, said the group would be: “Consulting widely” she said on the neighbourhood plan over the next few months, and with residents and businesses in Kingsclere and continued:
“ I would urge everyone in Kingsclere to visit the exhibition and contribute to the neighbourhood planning exercise.”
Kingsclere Parish Council decided at a March meeting to produce a neighbourhood plan for the village. Since then, a Neighbourhood Planning Group has been formed, comprising parish councillors and villagers.
The draft Local Plan for Basingstoke and Deane is out for consultation until Ocober 4.
The Local Plan exhibition is from 2pm to 8pm today (Friday) at the Fieldgate Centre in Kingsclere.
