Thatcham’s very own virtual reality gaming centre has opened today (June 17).

Players can enter a free roam virtual reality zone (Zero Latency), equip with guns, and immerse themselves in a post-apocalyptic world.

He said that he's often asked why Thatcham was his location of choice.

"I've always had an affinity to the local area having lived in Bradfield Southend and our wedding was at the Wasing Estate," he commented.

"My favourite pub is The Rowbarge. I've coached my daughter's football team for eleven years and travelled to every corner of the region.

"It is that team sport element that really differentiates what we do."

The gamers are assisted by a 'games master' who aids and advises groups as they travel through their virtual worlds. They are there to provide clues, prompts and give a heads up when players are too close to each other or real walls.

Game master Beth said: "When I first heard about meetspaceVR I knew I wanted to apply for a job. If Carlsberg did jobs this would be it."

She added: "It's so rewarding seeing people fully immersed and escaping the everyday, everyday."

Meetspace VR also has branches in Birmingham, Wembley and Nottingham.
