Visitors flock to ‘cleaner’ artificial beach at popular North Hants tourist attraction
Concerns about the cleanliness of beaches has led to a surge in visits to 4 Kingdoms Adventure Park & Family Farm’s artificial beach, writes Grace Clift.
The ‘beach’ at the family adventure park and farm in Newbury Road, Headley, consists of 510 tonnes of washed sand and is made to resemble Bournemouth and Brighton.
The beach is open from 11am to 4pm during the summer holidays and admission is included in the park’s overall admission fee.
It includes deckchairs, splash pools and a slip ‘n’ slide, as well as the traditional sand and ‘sea’.
According to the Environment Agency, there were 3.6 million hours of sewage spills in 2023, compared to 1.75 million hours in 2022.
This has led to mass concerns about the cleanliness of swimming in the sea, and many are turning towards alternatives like pools.
The 4 Kingdoms artificial beach has been met with a massive surge in popularity due to these concerns, especially during the recent heatwaves.
“We are thrilled that we can give our guests the ultimate beach experience right here in Hampshire,” said 4 Kingdoms owner Darren Lamb .
“The beach at 4 Kingdoms is guaranteed to be a memorable day out for families, offering the perfect blend of excitement and relaxation without a trip to the coast.
“Families are consistently reporting to us how much cleaner the beach is here compared to traditional seaside hotspots.
“We are hearing anecdotes on a daily basis about the concern that people have about water quality in rivers and oceans, and ultimately they are opting to come here knowing that they aren’t going to come in to contact with any sewage in the water or litter on the beach.”
4 Kingdoms Adventure Park is open every day during the summer holidays, and offers a wide variety of activities for visitors of all ages.
