Staff set a Guinness World Record for the number of people pulling a Christmas cracker at the same time

AS WORLD records go, this one's a cracker!

Five hundred and 66 employees at Vodafone's Newbury headquarters pulled a Christmas cracker at the same time in a successful attempt at a Guinness World Records title.

Clad in Santa hats and each holding a cracker in a human chain, staff pulled at the same time watched over by two independent witnesses and an official adjudicator from Guinness World Records.

Vodafone spokeswoman Jane Frapwell said: “There was no previous record, this was the first one, but we reckon our attempt will take some beating.”

The human chain, snaking in and around the offices, took place last Thursday, December 1.

The event was held to promote the communications giant's involvement in Text Santa, ITV's Christmas appeal.
