Volunteering fair in Newbury tomorrow (Saturday)

Forty voluntary organisations will be showcased at 'psychedelic' convention Newbury's Corn Exchange

VOLUNTARY organisations in West Berkshire will be on show tomorrow (Saturday) at the Fabulous Fantastic Psychedelic Volunteering Fair.

About 40 charities will be under one roof at Newbury Corn Exchange showcasing what they do.

Organised by the Volunteer Centre West Berkshire, the event will be held from 10am until 3pm, and all are welcome to attend.

Volunteer Centre director Garry Poulson said: “The public are always amazed at the depth and breadth of different volunteering opportunities there are.

“Unless you show these things, people's views could be narrow.

“When people come they say they had no idea there was so much going on.

“It is important to remind people of that.

“Volunteering is about enjoying yourself in your community and by enjoying yourself you are giving something back.”

The first 100 people through the door will receive a free ‘psychedelic' lolly pop and the Newbury Weekly News has donated £100 for the winner of the best stall competition.
