Newbury Town Council seeking volunteers to plant spring bulbs

Newbury Town Council is seeking volunteers to help plant spring bulbs.

The town council is asking the community to go along and help it plant 3,000 spring bulbs at Nightingales, Greenham, on Saturday, November 4.

The bulbs will be planted on sections of land opposite The Willows Primary School, the bank alongside The Nightingales and an area between Pyle Hill and Austen Gardens.

The bulbs will be traditional spring flowers, including tulips, daffodils and crocuses.

Council leader Gary Norman said: “We are inviting local residents to help plant the bulbs and come and take part in this community event.

“In the spring, the beautiful display of colourful flowers will further enhance Newbury’s open spaces for everyone.

“NTC is sponsoring this event for the community to enjoy in the future.”

Volunteers should go along between 10am and 1pm, meeting outside the Greenham Community Centre at 10am.

Take a trowel and gloves. These will also be available to borrow on the day.
