Vote for The Watermill
THE UK’s MOST WELCOMING THEATRE AWARD
The Watermill is up for the UK’s Most Welcoming Theatre Award and the winner will be decided by public vote. More than 220 professional theatres around the UK are taking part and votes must be cast by Tuesday, September 30. Alongside the care that is given to visitors to the theatre, this year’s award is encouraging audience members and the local community to recognise the importance of their local theatre and is given by the TMA My Theatre Matters Campaign in association with Classic FM.
To ensure a fair and competitive process, the public voting system will be weighted by theatre capacity with the winner decided by number of public votes divided by number of venue seats.
The Watermill’s tiny 220 seat auditorium hosted 69,000 people who saw a show at the theatre during 2012-2013, with a further 30,400 seeing a production on tour in the UK. Alongside this, 13,250 people participated in The Watermill’s outreach and education work, including youth theatre groups, adult acting classes, scratch choirs, business training delegates and a large-scale community Shakespeare performance.
