Vote to help Mary Hare School win cash for new pool

Sink or Swim Project is finalist in competition to win a share of £250,000

THE Mary Hare school for the deaf has made a plea for the local community to vote online to help secure a share of a £250,000 prize fund to help renovate the school’s 30-year-old swimming pool.

The school’s Sink or Swim Project has been announced as a finalist in the 2016 Jewson Building Better Communities competition, after beating off stiff competition from 1,800 entries.

A total £370,000 has been raised by the school towards a target £390,000 for the Sink or Swim project, with the aim of renovating the swimming pool built over three decades ago at the school, at Arlington Manor, in Snelsmore Common.

Jewson is offering cash to spend on building materials and applicants have nominated a project for either the main prize of £150,000, or a share of any amount between £500 to £10,000, and from a (further) £100,000 regional prize fund.

The school is urging the local community to help them over the final furlong to reach the fundraising target by casting their electronic vote on the Jewson Facebook page.

To vote online, before this Sunday's deadline, visit the Jewson Facebook page at www.facebook.com/jewsonuk
