Vulcan crew talk about heat of the action

RAF Sqn Ldrs (Ret’d) Andy Marson and Barry Masefield will be dropping in to Newbury to talk about their experiences as rear crew navigator and air electronics officer in Vulcan B2 aircraft during the latter stages of the Cold War.
The Avro Vulcan, together with the Valiant and the Victor and known as the V force, comprised the UKs strategic nuclear strike force during the 1950s and '60s.
Although its primary role was as a nuclear bomber, the Vulcan also carried out conventional bombing raids as part of Operation Black Buck in the Falklands War, in which Sqn Ldr Masefield was involved.
The Vulcan was retired from RAF service in 1984 and the only flying Vulcan in the world today, XH558, took off again in 2007 following an extensive restoration project.
The talk will be held at Newbury Royal British Legion Club, Pelican Lane, at 6pm on Wednesday, April 30. Tickets cost £10 and are available at www.vulcantotheskystore.co.uk
