Waitrose Newbury supports Give and Gain Day
Store will work with schools to promote healthier eating
WAITROSE in Newbury has volunteered to help support this year’s Business in the Community Give & Gain day.
The store will work with the local healthcare community and schools to promote healthier eating for those with special diets.
Give & Gain Day is an annual campaign to raise awareness of the power of volunteering, and Waitrose has sponsored the initiative for the past three years.
On Friday, Waitrose Newbury worked with nurses from a local surgery to provide customers with nutritional advice.
Product tours were also provided for customers interested or affected by special diets such as coeliac disease and diabetes.
In addition, children from Year 1 and Year 2 of Robert Sandilands School were given special store tours and talks promoting healthier eating.
Last year more than 60 Waitrose branches up and down the country were involved in the event.
Branch manager at Waitrose Newbury, Andy Davies, said: “It is such a rewarding opportunity for our partners to be able to volunteer as part of the Waitrose volunteering scheme, and we hope that through our support of Give & Gain day we can help create a healthier and happier community in Newbury.”
