Boots becomes Newbury's first vaccination centre to offer walk in jabs for 12-15s
Newbury’s Boots store has begun offering a walk-in vaccination clinic for 12- to 15-year-olds.
The Northbrook Street store began offering the jabs to youngsters today (Wednesday).
It is the first vaccination centre in the area to offer this and will be open seven days a week, from 9am-5pm Monday to Saturday and 11am-4pm on Sunday.
It is closed each day between 12pm-1pm.
Earlier this week, we reported how another vaccination centre in Newbury is urging people eligible for a booster jab to get vaccinated, aftera weekend of low bookings.
The Kennet Vaccination Centre said that bookings at the weekend (January 15-16) were "the lowest ever”, which it said was “pretty weird given millions of people still need to have their boosters”.
The Kennet vaccination centre will be open again at the weekend, January 22 and 23, for boosters.
It will only be offering jabs to over-16s and will be operating via bookings.
Boots is also offering walk-in appointments every day for those who still need their booster jabs.
The store is offering both first and second booster vaccinations as well as flu vaccinations.
