Walking book group leaves Newbury Library at 4pm today (Thursday)

It marks the end of LibraryFest 2015

West Berkshire’s first ever walking book group steps out from Newbury Library on World Book Night today (Thursday).

It is part of the celebrations to mark the end of LibraryFest 2015 across the district.

The book group will walk from Newbury Library to Shaw House and back, starting at 4pm, while chatting about Mark Haddon’s book The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night Time. To book a place, email walking@westberks.gov.uk.

The seven-week LibraryFest 2015 has provided a diverse programme of events, such as Tales of the Unfinishable, part of a national initiative exploring why people keep pieces of unfinished creative work – with a corresponding, huge walk-in interactive display in Newbury Library throughout the LibraryFest.

Other activities included percussion and animation storyboard workshops and the groundbreaking film project Me and the Black Dog, which challenges how mental illness is perceived.

There is also the chance to join a further percussion workshop during the final day of LibraryFest activities, between 5pm and 6pm at Newbury Library, then take part in a public performance.

Music, refreshments and other activities will be available from 6.15pm to 7.30pm at the library in the wharf.

The walking book group takes place between 4pm and 5pm, starting at Newbury Library.

To book a place, email walking@westberks.gov.uk.
