Wanted: One chef to help cook Christmas meals for elderly

Communities Christmas and Churches Together in Newbury makes plea for help on Christmas Day

CALLING all chefs.

A charity event which provides meals and entertainment for elderly people on Christmas Day is in urgent need of someone who can run a kitchen to help out on the day.

The Communities Christmas event run with the help of Churches Together in Newbury has made the plea.

Last year organiser Claire Serruya called on the help of an army chef to cook festive meals for around 52 elderly people in St George's Hall, Wash Common.

This year however many of those based at Denison Barracks, Hermitage, are serving in Afghanistan and the charity is unable to count on their help.

“We do urgently need someone who can run a kitchen, we have volunteers to serve we just need a chef who could oversee preparation of around 100 meals. It would be brilliant if someone could come forward, we are desperate,” she said.

Anyone with the culinary skills to take on the challenge is asked to contact Adam on 07738759846.
