Warning over Kintbury crime wave
Police are currently appealing to the public for any information that may help catch them those responsible for the localised crime wave.
Detectives believe the 11 incidents, which all happened between Wednesday, February 20 and the following Wednesday, are linked.
Four happened within hours of each other in Holt Road, and three in Dunn Crescent.
The incidents - the majority of which occurred between Monday, February 25 and Wednesday, February 27 - are as follows:
Between 6.20pm on Monday, February 25 and 6.50am Tuesday, February 26, offenders smashed the driver’s side window of a car parked in Queensway. A search was made of the vehicle but nothing was stolen.
Between 7pm on Monday, February 25 and and 7am Tuesday, February 26, power tools were stolen from a Ford Transit van parked in Dunn Crescent.
Between midnight on Monday, February 25 and 7.28am on Tuesday, February 26, offenders smashed the rear window of a car parked in Dunn Crescent. A laptop was stolen.
Between 10pm on Monday, February 25 and 7.30am on Tuesday, February 26, at Dunn Crescent, a garage was entered and the freezer was searched.
Between 11am on Monday, February 25 and 8am on Tuesday, February 26, access was gained to a car parked in Long Close. A small amount of cash was stolen.
Between 12pm on Wednesday, February 20 and 5pm on Tuesday, February 26, offenders gained entry to a garage in Queensway. Once inside, the intruders stole a petrol strimmer.
Between midnight on Tuesday, February 26 and 11.59am on Wednesday, February 27, offenders gained entry to a garage in Harold Road. Once inside they stole a large amount of fishing equipment.
Between 11 pm on Monday, February 25 and 6.15am on Tuesday, February 26, offenders broke into two sheds on one property in Holt Road. Tools were stolen.
Between 11.30pm on Monday, February 25 and 5.30am on Tuesday, February 26, offenders broke into a another shed in Holt Road and stole tools.
Between 1am and 7am on Tuesday, February 26, offenders gained entry to a property in Laylands Green. Car keys were stolen and a red Vauxhall Zafira was stolen from the driveway.
Between 1130pm on Monday, February 25 and 6.30am on Tuesday, February 26 at Irish Hill Road, entry was forced to a garage, although nothing appears to have been stolen.
Det Sgt Emily Evans from Newbury police station said: “We would like to remind people about securing their sheds, garages and vehicles when not in use and never leaving any items of value on display in their vehicle.”
