Wash Common ballet dancer set for the West End
Eleven-year-old Anna Head will play the part of Spun Gold and a member of the Baddies Gang in Rumpelstiltskin
A TALENTED young dancer from Wash Common has been chosen to play a part in a large West End production as part of the London Children's Ballet.
Anna Head, aged 11, who attends Falkland Primary School, will be playing the part of Spun Gold and a member of the Baddies Gang in the company's production of the Brothers Grimm fairytale, Rumpelstiltskin, which will be in the Peacock Theatre, Sadler's Wells between April 28 and May 1.
Anna said: “I'm really excited, I've danced in front of audiences before, but never one this big.
“The choreography is a lot harder than what I am used to and it is really hard work, but I'm really enjoying it.”
Her mother, Abigail Head, said: “I'm really happy for her, this is the first time she has auditioned for anything and to get in has meant a great deal to her.”
Getting to the top in the ballet world takes a lot of work, and it's no different for Anna.
She has been training since she was four years old and she joins her fellow cast, 55 members, aged between nine and 16, every Sunday for practice sessions in London.
This is on top of her two regular classes per week, and the hour of practice which her principle expects her to do every day.
The principal of Allenova School of Dancing in Newbury, Tanya Allen, praised Anna's dedication: “She is very hard working and very conscientious and she's quite a perfectionist too, she always listens to advice.
“She is a talented little girl and given the right amount of training and dedication, she could go on to bigger things.”
Tickets for the show start from £15 and are available on the Sadlers Wells website, which can be accessed by clicking on the link below.
