Issue expected to be resolved by this evening, say Thames Water

WATER supply problems affecting thousands of West Berkshire homes are expected to last up until this evening, Thames Water have confirmed.

Many homes within the RG7 postcode area have been left without water since the early hours of this morning while others are experiencing low pressure owing to a problem with pumps at Burghfield water station.

Thames Water has said a maximum of 5,000 homes are affected with engineers on site working to resolve the issue since this morning.

A spokeswoman for the utility company said: “We’ve carried out an essential part of the repair work to our pumps at Burghfield booster station, and water pressure should soon start building back up in our network.

"We expect supplies to be back to normal this evening.”

Thames Water set up two bottled water stations in an effort to give local residents access to water throughout the day, while water was hand delivered to priority customers.
