Water, water, everywhere...still

Company spokeswoman Natalie Slater said that both the leak outside Newbury Baptist Church in Cheap Street and another in Kiln Road, Curridge, were to be repaired last week, by last weekend at the latest.
However they were still pumping water as the Newbury Weekly News went to press on Wednesday.
Thames Water engineers did manage to finally fix the leak outside the Old Waggon and Horses in Newbury Market Place.
That, too, had been left untended for weeks as thousands of gallons of water were wasted.
Ms Slater said: “Unfortunately, we have had to prioritise more serious leaks and bursts which have happened in the last week meaning this one had been left unrepaired. “Every leak is important to us and we're sorry for the length of time it has taken to get this one done.”
The Kiln Road leak has gone unrepaired since July, according to local resident Eric Friend.
And Michael Barnes who lives in Crookham Common, said a fire hydrant in Thornford Road, Crookham Common, had been leaking water for more than two months.
He said: “My wife, Claire, called Thames Water to report the leak a number of times but nothing was done. It’s frustrating that they can bully their customers into saving water but they can’t fix their own leaks.”
Thames Water spokesman Craig Rance said engineers were despatched to the site last week.
He added: “We have turned off a leak on an air valve and we will be out to repair the valve in due course. This will not affect supplies to our customers.”
