Newbury’s Watermill pays tribute to David Soul ‘a great supporter of the theatre who will be greatly missed’
The Watermill theatre has paid tribute to actor and musician David Soul whose death was announced yesterday (Friday) at the age of 80.
The former Starsky and Hutch actor became a familiar figure around Newbury when he starred in the theatre’s production of Mack & Mabel in 2005. He returned in 2015 for an evening reading of the poetry of Pablo Neruda.
The Watermill’s two month run of Mack and Mabel – about the tumultuous romantic relationship between Hollywood director Mack Sennett and Mabel Normand, who became one of his biggest stars – went on to the West End.

“We are extremely saddened to hear of the passing of David Soul today.
David starred in our 2005 production of Mack & Mabel both at The Watermill and in the West End.
He was a great supporter of the theatre and will be greatly missed.”
