Berkshire Youth’s Waterside Centre calls for music night sponsors

A youth and community centre in Newbury is calling for sponsors for its upcoming music nights.

Following the launch of its new music lounge earlier this year, the Waterside Centre is to host regular musical events for young people.

The first planned event will fall on the afternoon of July 23 (Saturday) and will follow a summer party theme.

It is to include a “barbeque at tea time” by the canal accompanied by live music.

The Waterside Centre, run by Berkshire Youth, has set up these events to give young people a creative space to perform live to their friends and family.

Waterside centre youth and community manager Kelly Leach said: “Waterside Centre has a fantastic history with music events.

"We’re really excited to bring these new events to young people and the local community.

"The events will give young people the opportunity to perform and take part, whatever their ability and background, a brilliant experience for them all.”

The centre is hoping that it will soon become a “community event” that everybody can attend, for a "token gesture" fee.

It is calling for event sponsors in exchange for exposure during the event itself, as well as via pre-event PR.

It said: “The launch event was such a success, with loads of fantastic feedback from young people and their parents, that we are keen to make this a regular event.

“We are reaching out to local dignitaries and companies to enquire if they would be interested in supporting or sponsoring one of the events.”

It added: "We believe that this is a very exciting opportunity, supporting music activities for local young people.

"Our network and reach will be across all secondary schools in West Berkshire, and also via the Berkshire Maestros and Berkshire Youth social media platforms."

Future events have been planned for the coming months.
