Remembrance events for West Berkshire and North Hampshire for Sunday, November 14




Heads will bow and a silence will fall across the district as thousands of people join together for Remembrance Sunday this weekend.

Last year’s commemorations were reduced due to the Covid-19 pandemic but this year church services, wreath-layings, ceremonies and parades will once again be taking place across West Berkshire and North Hampshire.

Remembrance events are taking place at the following locations:

NEWBURY

10.25am: Remembrance parade sets off from Pelican Lane, marching through Northbrook Street, Mansion House Street and into Market Place. A service will begin here at 10.50am before moving to the war memorial where a wreath will be laid and finishing at St Nicolas Church.

THATCHAM

10.30am: Remembrance parade leaves the Kingsland car park. A 2 minute silence and service will be held at the Memorial Hall Parade Ground at 11am.

10.30am: Service of Remembrance at St Peter’s Church.

10.55am: Service of Remembrance at St Mary’s Church.

HUNGERFORD

9.30am: Remembrance service at St Lawrence's Church

10.30: Remembrance parade, including soldiers from 6th Armoured Close Support Battalion REME starts outside the Corn Exchange and marches to the war memorial in Bridge Street for a service at 10.55am.

WASH COMMON

10.45am: Outside acts of Remembrance following a parade from Wash Common park along Battery End.

HAMSTEAD MARSHALL

9.15am: Remembrance meeting at the war memorial stone in Hamstead Park, with a bugler.

9.45am: Service of Remembrance at St Mary’s Church

ENBORNE

9.15am: Remembrance meeting at the war memorial stone in Hamstead Park, with a bugler.

9.45am: Service of Remembrance at St Michael & All Angels Church

WEST WOODHAY

11.15am: Service of Remembrance at St Laurence’s Church

COOMBE

10.30am: Service at St Swithun’s Church

INKPEN

10.30am: Service at St Michael & All Angels Church

KINTBURY

10.45am: Service begins at the war memorial outside St Mary’s Church. After the 2 minute silence the service will continue inside the church.

LAMBOURN

10.45am: Service of Remembrance at the war memorial St Michael and All Angels Church.

THEALE

10.30am: Remembrance service at Holy Trinity Church

COLD ASH

Selected Scouts and Guides will attend an Act of Remembrance at the churchyard.

10.55am: Remembrance service at Denys Church

ASHAMPSTEAD

10.50am: Remembrance service at the war memorial and then move onto St Clement Church

10.45am: Remembrance event at the War Memorial today (Thursday, November 11), including a 2 minute silence at 11am.

MIDGHAM

10.45am: Service of Remembrance at St Matthew’s Church. The spire is being lit up the night before (6pm until 8.30am).

4pm: Wreath laying at the war memorial outside the church.

KINGSCLERE

10.40am: Kingsclere Armistice Day Remembrance Parade beginning at 24 Swan Street and making its way to the war memorial in the village centre.

HIGHCLERE

10.55am: Remembrance service at St Michael & All Angels Church. Service will begin outside by the war memorial for the Act of Remembrance and wreath laying and then move into the church.

SILCHESTER

9.30am: Remembrance service at St Mary the Virgin Church.

10.45am: Remembrance Day commemoration at the war memorial opposite the village green.
