Weekend of fun – and money off – as IKEA store in Calcot unveils new market hall
After months of work, IKEA has opened its revamped market hall, offering customers a weekend of celebrations.
It is the first major facelift for the Calcot store, which first welcomed customers in 2016.
The new space opened today (Thursday) with a party in the restaurant.
Families could enjoy craft activities, face painting and balloon art.
Tomorrow (Friday) the store holds its regular Swe-DISH Fridays event.
This sees special offers on meals including meatballs, fish dishes, breakfasts, and children’s portions.
There will be children’s activities across the weekend, giving youngsters a chance to get their faces painted or have a glitter tattoo.
Balloon artists will be present.
Customers who are IKEA Family members will be able to take advantage of special offers, including a £5 discount when spending £50 or £10 when spending £100.
This offer runs until Monday, July 29.
Family events in the summer holidays
The Pincents Kiln Industrial Park store will hold special events across the summer holidays.
On Tuesday, July 30, between 11.30am and 5pm, the theme is medal making.
A contest to see who can make a bed the fastest will take place on Wednesdays July 31 and August 7.
Entrants will have to put a bed sheet, duvet, pillows and throw on to a bed and create an enticing display.
They will be timed, with the winner receiving a hamper packed with bed textiles.
Hopscotch contests run from Thursday, August 1, through to Friday, September 6, and IKEA says the game will be suitable for adults and children.
IKEA’s answer to Lego, Bygglek, is the theme for Friday, August 2, with a building session taking place in the restaurant.
The store is open from 10am to 9pm daily, apart from Sundays, when customers can visit between 11am and 5pm.
