Well, that’s Allwright then! TV star Matt to help Guide Dogs for the Blind by judging fun event on Saturday
A popular television presenter is going from Watchdog to watching dogs this weekend as he judges a charity event in Burghfield Common.
Matt Allwright, a familiar face on BBC One, will be lending a paw to Guide Dogs For The Blind as it holds a fun day.
The dog show will see Matt look for the top dogs in a range of categories including the pooch with the best trick.
It’s not the only attraction planned for the event on Saturday, September 21.
There will be demonstrations on how the guide dogs are trained, an opportunity to walk along a sensory tunnel that helps illustrate what life is like for people without sight, and information stalls that explain more about the charity’s work.
Families will be able to enjoy fairground-style games, and there will be face painting, a tombola and a lucky dip.
A craft market will be set up, and people can enjoy a barbecue, cakes, light refreshments and a bar.
The event runs from noon to 4pm, and takes place at its home off Reading Road.
Entry is free, and the charity is running shuttle buses around the village, and also from a free car park situated at The Willink School’s School Lane entrance.
Details for this are at Guide Dogs’ Facebook page “Volunteers at Guide Dogs (UK)” on the events section.
This includes a route map for the shuttle bus through Burghfield and Burghfield Common.
