We're not iron men - say Paris to Geneva cyclists

A West Berkshire man and his friends hop on their bikes for a gruelling 400-mile charity ride

A BRIMPTON man and three friends have begun a 400-mile five-day cycle ride from Paris to Geneva for charity.

Andrew Neill (pictured second from right), aged 32, who works at NuUrban Music in Theale, along with Ross O'Brien, Alex O'Brien and Adrian Burge, all from London, began their journey on Wednesday and expect to finish on Sunday in an effort to raise money for the British Heart Foundation.

Mr Burge's daughter was born with a heart abnormality and so the group decided to move their backsides off the couch and into saddles to help the charity.

"We're not iron men, this is just something we decided to do which would take us out of our comfort zones," said Mr Neill.

"I cycle to work every day and we've been putting in a little bit of extra training but none of us have really prepared for it. We're aiming to do around 80 miles a day and will be camping overnight."

The group have almost hit their target of £2,500, having raised £2,095.56 so far, and have asked the West Berkshire public to dig in and help them achieve the goal.
