Were you one of the many Santas dashing through the Broadway in Thatcham at the weekend?
The town centre was filled with a sea of red and jolly Santa’s ran through the 5k course.
Despite the torrential downpour before the race, 180 determined Santas laced up their boots and put on their hats for the annual event.
As always, the fun run was open to all ages and abilities from Father Christmases and Mrs Clauses to little Santas and even some four-legged friends too.
And they all ran for a good cause whether it was a charity of their choice or the event organiser’s Thatcham Rotary choice Eight Bells for Mental Health.
A profit of £1,800 was made for the mental health charity.
All runners were provided with a medal from a different man in red robes, the mayor of Thatcham Mark Lillycrop.
Mr Lillycrop said: “Having joined the fun run many times over the last 10 years, it was exciting to be able to lead the countdown as mayor.
“We had a great turnout despite the weather.
“Thanks to all who helped organisers Thatcham Rotary to raise funds for Eight Bells for Mental Health, to sponsor UHY-Ross Brooke Chartered Accountants, and to Newbury Soup Kitchen and Kennet Radio for their support.
“And of course, well done to all the runners who took part.”
Newbury Soup Kitchen was also in attendance, providing some well-deserved warm drinks and food for participants.
UHY Ross Brooke Charted Accountants was the main sponsor of the event, for which Thatcham Rotary president Maurice Franks expressed the club’s gratitude.
