West Berkshire bakers named England's most loved




Warings Bakery comes out top in pole for this year’s national Craft Bakers’ Week

A WEST Berkshire-based bakers has clearly found the recipe for success after being named the Most Loved Bakery in England.

Warings Bakery, with outlets in Thatcham, Burghfield and Tilehurst, received the backing of customers thanks to its scrumptious cakes and friendly staff as part of this year’s national Craft Bakers’ Week, which ran from September 28 to October 3.

Bakers across the country have been encouraging customers to vote for them as the Most Loved Bakery in the England with votes for Warings Bakery, which also has two shops in Hampshire, including a nomination from a customer who has been shopping there for more than 70 years.

Daniel Carr from Warings said: “It feels fantastic to be voted as the Most Loved Bakery in England.

“Bakeries are an important part of any community, and it is great to see that we are so loved by our customers.

“We would like to thank all those who voted for us for their continued support both towards us and the art of craft baking.”

Craft Bakers’ Week is a national celebration designed to showcase the skills that bakers use every day.

The chairwoman of Craft Bakers’ Week 2015, Hanna Marriage, said: “Bakeries have been a feature on our high street for generations and have become an incredibly important part of communities all over the country.

“Some bakeries are over 100 years old, and have passed recipes down through the generations, including many delicious regional specialties.”

Craft Bakers’ Week 2015 is also helping to support the work of Make-A-Wish UK. Bakers raised a total of £20,000 for the charity last year.
