West Berkshire band calls on young composers

The Englefield-based band has just launched a Young Composers’ Competition aimed at under 25s living or studying in the Reading and West Berkshire area.
Entrants will need to produce an original composition scored for the 40-piece band.
South Berks is a community wind band and weekly rehearsals are held for brass, woodwind and percussion players of all ages. The band performs in regular concerts and in November 2010, received a gold award for performance at the National Concert Band Festival.
Keen young composers will be able to express an interest in taking part in the competition from July 1.
