The Greene King tub2pub scheme: West Berkshire collects more than 400 sweet tubs for Macmillan Cancer Support
Throughout January, Greene King pubs have been taking in plastic tubs for its Tub2Pub scheme, to recycle into money for Macmillan Cancer Support.
In West Berkshire, 429 were collected, half as many as last year.
Thatcham woman Jenny Kirby, who stored the tubs in her garage, has broken down the numbers of different brands of tubs received.
Of the 429 tubs, 124 were Heroes, closely followed by Quality Street, of which she collected 122.
There were 90 Celebrations, 84 Roses, eight other sweet tubs and one Jacob’s Cracker tub.
Mrs Kirby said the latter being a square-shaped container meant people wanted to keep them for reuse.
The tubs were dropped off to The Bear pub in Hungerford.
Mrs Kirby said: “They very kindly took all of them. It's great the community came together to collect the tubs; together we can make a difference.
“Any remaining tubs can be recycled at the tubs pots and trays banks rather than kerbside.”
