West Berkshire Council defend cyclists' sign

He said: “Witness the recent repainting of a five yard long cycle path right next to a newly-erected ‘Cyclists Dismount’ sign.
“They are re-painting the cycle path on the one hand, then telling cyclists to dismount on the other. How much did this cost us?”
A spokesman for West Berkshire Council, Keith Ulyatt, said: “The sign is clearly asking cyclists to dismount where vehicles may be crossing the path. Road safety is the priority here.”
