West Berkshire Council is urging residents to WEEE-cycle electronic goods
Small electrical items, from kettles to clocks, can be recycled at the banks situated in Sainsbury’s in Calcot, the Kingsland Centre in Thatcham and the station car park in Hungerford.
Larger items, such as TVs and refrigerators, can be recycled at Newtown Road, Newbury, and Padworth household waste recycling centres.
General Manager for Veolia Environmental Services in West Berkshire, Mark Gray, said: “Any small electrical or electronic item can be placed in these banks so they can be taken apart and the components recycled into brand new products.”
The WEEE directive was introduced in the UK in 2007, and requires all end-of-life electrical equipment to be treated in an environmentally friendly manner.
