NEW and expectant parents can pick up free packs of reusable nappies in a scheme being run by West Berkshire Council.

Real nappies are made from cloth and are machine-washable, and now much easier to use than in the past.

Each pack will include two nappies, two fleece liners, a wet bag and information about the Real Nappy scheme.

Waste manager at West Berkshire Council, Jackie Ward, said: “Real nappies can help stop between 4,000 and 6,000 disposable nappies per child going to landfill or energy from waste.

“Real, washable nappies can also save parents up to £500 over the cost of disposables.

“Cloth nappies have changed drastically in recent years and are easy to use, save money and are better for the environment and your baby.”

Parents can save more money by applying for West Berkshire Council’s cashback scheme, saving £30 on a purchase of more than £60 on real nappies.
