Cheers for the beers! West Berkshire licensees included in CAMRA Good Beer Guide 2022
CHEERS to the champions of real ale in West Berkshire.
Twelve top regional watering holes have been singled out for inclusion the Campaign for Real Ale (CAMRA)’s Good Beer Guide 2022.
It’s the 49th edition of the beer lovers’ bible and on Monday the licensees gathered to be presented with a certificate at The Lion in West Street, Newbury.
The West Berkshire pubs included in the guide are:
The Bell Inn, Aldworth
The Hungerford Club, Hungerford
The John O’Gaunt Inn, Hungerford
The Catherine Wheel, Newbury
The Cow and Cask, Newbury
The King Charles Tavern, Newbury
The Lion, Newbury
The Lock, Stock and Barrel, Newbury
The Great Shefford, Great Shefford
The Wheatsheaf Inn, Thatcham
The Rowbarge, Woolhampton
The Taproom and Kitchen at West Berkshire Brewery, Yattendon
West Berkshire CAMRA chairman Andy Pinkard said: “The Good Beer Guide production was intentionally delayed this year, so that CAMRA members were able to fairly judge the candidate pubs over the summer.
“It’s fantastic to see how pubs in West Berkshire have come through the [coronavirus pandemic] hiatus and how they pivoted their offering to survive.
“If you’re looking for the best cask conditioned ales, then the pubs listed in the guide are the places to go to.”
