West Berkshire school locked down after firearm arrest
Thames Valley Police received a call at around 12.30pm today (Friday) reporting that a youth had been seen in a vehicle in the car park of Little Heath School in Tilehurst holding what was believed to be a firearm.
It has been reported that the youth was pointing the firearm at people in the car park.
A large number of police resources were called to the area and the school the surrounding area were ‘locked down’, according to Thames Valley Police.
The vehicle was located by officers who found what is believed to be an imitation firearm in the glove-box.
A 17-year-old boy has been arrested.
Police are not looking for anyone else in connection with the incident and no-one was injured or threatened.
Police officers will be visiting schools in the area this afternoon to provide reassurance.
