West Berkshire schools make South East Top 10 for GCSE English and Maths results




West Berkshire has ranked in the top 10 in the South East for GCSE English and Maths results.

Earlier this year, Prime Minister Rishi Sunak announced his plans to make Maths compulsory in all English schools up to age 18 to upskill pupils and better prepare them for the future.

Exam preparation platform, Atom Learning, has analyzed GCSE English and Maths results in state-funded schools in every local authority in England for the 2021-2022 academic year. The rankings for local authorities in the South East are as follows.

The statistics show West Berkshire has joined other areas in Berkshire in the top ten for GCSE results in English and Maths in the South East.

The district came seventh in the table with 54.9 per cent of 1,886 pupils achieving a grade five or higher.

Slough came second, Wokingham third, Windsor and Maidenhead sixth and Reading ninth.

Buckinghamshire had the highest GCSE pass rate, with 64.3 per cent of all pupils achieving a grade five or higher.

And The Isle of Wight has the lowest GCSE pass rate, with 39.2 per cent of all pupils achieving a grade five or higher.
