West Berkshire warned to expect travel disruption due to incoming storm
WINDS of 80mph and severe rain is set to hit West Berkshire overnight and tomorrow morning (Mon), the Met Office has warned.
It has issued an amber warning - meaning 'be prepared' - for the South of England from 0.05am until 12 noon on Monday.
Rail travel will also be interrupted, with both First Great Western and South West Trains both announcing amended services.
The Met Office warned the public should be prepared for the risk of falling trees as well as damage to buildings and other structures, bringing disruption to transport and power supplies.
First Great Western says it will run trains at reduced speeds for all or part of the journey.
The company has warned customers of possible extended times to journeys and urged those travelling to check for current train running information on its JourneyCheck pages.
Meanwhile, South West trains will be operating a reduced timetable on Monday, with the majority of services not expected to run until at least 8am.
Across the network, trains will run at a maximum of 50mph as a safety measure in case of obstructions on the tracks, which will result in extended journey times on services.
More than 1,000 homes in Pangbourne are currently without power, with a fallen tree believed to be the cause.
